A man suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a train Thursday afternoon near downtown Lexington.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, the incident happened at about 4:10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Old Main Street.
A southbound Norfolk Southern train was “blowing its horn,” but a man who was standing on the tracks “failed to move out of the way in time,” according to the fire department.
