From Our President
I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve as president of our organization. I hope I can follow suit by the previous leaderships in continuing to move our organization forward.
I would also like to thank Retired Chief Jason Colson for his 28 years of dedicated emergency services. Your commitment and leadership will be missed. Good luck in your future position of a Regional Account Manager for Atlantic Emergency Solutions!
As we see changes in the CDC guidelines for Corona, we are excited to see the changes in allowing in person meetings! We hope to see you at our June meeting at EKU! If not there, then at our conference in August. Lots of exciting times ahead for our organization.
On a personal note, I am retiring from Winchester Fire/EMS on June 1, 2021. After 35 years in emergency services in Winchester/Clark Co, I decided it was time. All of the advice and comments from other retired chiefs finally sunk in; go have fun! I’m sure Danny will have lots of things to keep me busy. I look forward to having that opportunity. Just in case, drop me a line on good camping and/or fishing spots! That is our plans for the immediate future.
My new email address is email@example.com. My cell phone is still 859-808-0496.
Hope to see you’ll soon. Stay Safe!

Public Safety GPO and Kentucky Association of Fire Chief’s, leaders in the Public Safety cooperative purchasing and the Fire Service , today announced a direct partnership to continue the efforts both started together decades ago to provide open, fair and competitive cooperative options to their members. Kentucky Fire Chief’s Executive Director Daniel Castle, has been working with Mika Kawakami, the Association Manager for Public Safety GPO, to establish a plan which supports the GPO’s vendors and enhances the use of cooperative agreements within the State of Kentucky. “The Kentucky Fire Chiefs are excited to continue the partner directly with Public Safety GPO to offer our members departmental and individual discounts which will not only save them money but will also directly help our association financially. We feel a direct relationship with GPO was in the best interest of our members and the fire industry. Said Castle”
This relationship will provide the Kentucky Fire Chief’s with over 100 publicly procured agreements for products and services used by the Fire Service every day, along with a discount program to their individual members from over 20 vendors such as AT&T FirstNet.
