Two people managed to escape a house fire in Montgomery County early Thursday morning. It happened at 3:30 a.m. off of U.S. 1050 in Jeffersonville. The home was badly damaged. Firefighters say the only thing that woke the two up were working smoke alarms. They told fire officials smoke and flames were heavy in the kitchen and they think it started there.
